Francis Laporte was born on October 13, 1970. He completed a Bachelor of Communications at the Université du Québec à Montréal with a specialization in video production and multimedia and a B.A. in theatre arts, majoring in direction and stage design. Francis Laporte incorporates video into diverse environments and develops interdisciplinary and multimedia approaches to art making. His field of specialty is live art, with a focused investigation of space and large-scale environments. Very active in the arts milieu, he has worked in many disciplines, including video (installations and single-channel productions), performance, theatre, the experimental, advertising and music videos.
