Born in Arthabaska in 1962, Esther Valiquette worked as a camera and lighting assistant. Her major works were Le Récit d'A. (1990), Extenderis (1993) and the film Le Singe bleu (1992), which won the prize for best short film at the 11th Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois and a Genie award in the short documentary category. She died of Aids in the fall of 1994.
