Michel Di Torre
Raymond Gervais and Michel Di Torre met in 1970 at the Warehouse, a Montreal record store frequented by famous jazz musicians. They were both crazy about music and critical of the straightjackets holding back Montreal jazz. The Warehouse closed in 1971 but this was not the end of their story. The project to create an Atelier de musique expérimentale (AME) brought them back together in 1972. AME was officially born the following year through the efforts of Gervais and Di Torre, along with Yves Bouliane and Robert Marcel Lepage, two musicians with enormous potential at the time. Vincent Dionne, Michel-Georges Brégent, Tristan Honsinger, Bryan Highbloom and many other out-of-the-ordinary musicians soon joined them.
