Linda Vachon
Linda Vachon is a self-taught artist whose photographic explorations and treatment of images led to an interest in creating computer-generated imagery in the early 2000s.
Since 2015, she has dedicated herself to art on a full-time basis. She has moved from digital drawing to printmaking on paper, and works with different mediums such as acrylic, oil and crayon. She frequently photographs and scans works to digitalize each stage of her creative process and will return to these files later in other projects. She works on wooden panels, which recall city fences plastered in accumulated posters – the urban landscape that she loves and is inspired by. In 2019, she began using stop-motion animation. This medium allows her characters to transmit a message in motion that is always touching and tinged with intimacy.
Vachon received the Jury’s Honorable Mention at Montréal en Arts in 2016 and First Prize at Lyst’art in 2017. Her very short film Y’a du noir dans tes ailes was awarded the Grand Prix des Rendez-vous vidéopoésie at the Festival de la Poésie de Montréal in 2020.
