OK Pedersen is an American artist and filmmaker of Iraqi descent, now living in Montreal. Her research circles around an investigation of image-making––the unending loop between seeing, remembering, and knowing, and the function of media within this cycle. As an image-maker, her practice involves photographic processes, filmmaking, and writing––weaving together analogue and digital fragments in search for the essence and phenomenon of shared memory and knowledge. She is the 2022-23 recipient of Dazibao’s Jeune tête d’affiche prize, and her film Cloud Gate 2, about the technology of memory, premiered at RIDM in 2022. OK has taught photography and filmmaking at Concordia University in Montreal and Lillstreet Art Center in Chicago. She is also a member of the artist collective Group C, which is less of an artwork-producing body and more of a pedagogical experiment with a picnic methodology.
