The video maker-actor-writer Jason Paré, born in Abitibi and Montrealer by adoption since 2004, has more than a score of short films and several publications to his credit, including a science fiction novel entitled Combat par l’esprit (1995). In Rouyn-Noranda he co-founded Les Racamés, a video collective out of which grew Espace Vidéo and the Festival du DocuMenteur de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue. In 2009 he completed an undergraduate degree in film studies at the Université de Montréal and the following year he helped found the Festival des Films de la Relève.
