Korbett Matthews
Korbett Matthews is a Montreal-based filmmaker who produces, directs and photographs his own work. He studied filmmaking at Concordia University and has worked as a freelance researcher, camera operator and assistant director on several feature-length documentaries since 2001. His award-winning films include Lezenvisib (2000), Devouring Buddha (2003) and The Man who Crossed the Sahara (2008). His films merge new forms of cinematic expression with traditional non-fiction approaches in order to move viewers into a new audio-visual realm. He opened 7th Embassy in 2005, his own film production company and he is currently working on The india space opera, a visual documentary set thirty years in the future when India sends a man into space, and Farewell to Grozny, a poetic exploration of the Chechen conflict, a war long forgotten by the West.
