Nicolas Roy was born in Quebec City in 1974. He studied cinema in three different universities in Quebec and directed a few experimental short films. Novembre, his first short fiction film, has been shown in several festivals in Quebec and France, in particular at the Festival international du court métrage de Clermont-Ferrand. Léo is the second film of a trilogy (begun with Novembre) exploring themes such as family, the desolate countryside and death. Léo received a Special Mention from the Association québécoise des critiques de cinéma (AQCC) at the 22nd Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois.
