PRIMORDIAL DISMEMBERMENT
PRIMORDIAL DISMEMBERMENT is an experimental film collective founded in Montreal in 2019 by Thomas L. Archambault and Manolis Daris, both graduates in Fine Arts at Concordia University. Through works that are heavily influenced by video games, science fiction, mythology, and extreme music, they seek to develop new cinematic vocabularies that reflect contemporary culture’s troubled relationship with the idea of the future. In Sadovnik, their first science fiction short, artificial intelligence becomes a ghostly relic of humanity, through whom our hopes, our flaws and our fears are allowed to linger on even long after our extinction. Following the reception of a research and creation grant from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec in 2020, they have begun work on their second film, a dystopian epic that tells the story of the future reincarnations of the pre-Socratic philosopher Empedocles.
