After completing her studies in Drama at  the Université de Québec à Montréal, Sylvie Tourangeau worked as an actor and stage director. Since 1978, she has been actively involved in video and performance art. She has done more than thirty performances and has written nearly as many articles for magazines, exhibition catalogues and monographs. She taught performance in the Theatre Department at UQAM and has been Assistant Director at Galerie Noctuelle. Sylvie Tourangeau's performance works allow spectators to come into close contact with the authenticity of presence, the ritualising of the everyday and the fragile limitations between the insignificant and the essential.
