A graduate of the Deutsche Film and Fernsehakademie, Berlin, Uli Schüppel has mainly produced documentary films, music videos and films about musicians. Nihil or All the Time in the World (1987), won the jury's special prize at the FGECM, Montreal. He has since produced a documentary on the 1989 American tour of signer Nick Cave. Vaterland, a fictional film, won the International Film Award of the Catholic Church, OCIC, in 1993. Shüppel was born in 1958 in Odenwald. He now lives in Berlin.
