Mary Ellen Davis
Born in Montreal, Mary Ellen Davis has been living in France and in Quebec. After film production studies at Concordia University, she directed documentaries filmed in Quebec, Guatemala, Mexico, Palestine, as well as the USA and Ontario. Davis co-produced Alejandro (El Salvador, 1994) by Guillermo Escalón. Since 1998 she co-programs the cinema showcase of Montreal First Peoples’ Festival Présence autochtone (8th edition 1998 to 26th edition 2016). In 1999, she joins the ranks of Concordia University’s part-time faculty, giving film production courses at the School of Cinema. She has been co-organising Regards palestiniens from the 1st edition in 2007 to the 10th edition in 2016. She co-founded the Regards syriens collective and helped organize the Syria Sees You film event (May 2016). In 2013 she taught at the Cine-Institute, Jacmel, Haiti.
