A video artist, filmmaker and composer by training, Robert Cahen crosses the borders between the arts. He graduated from the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique in Paris in 1971, where he studied under Pierre Schaeffer, and has brought to video the technical and formal experiments of musique concrète. A researcher at the ORTF, Cahen is a pioneer in the use of electronic instruments. He treats the images like sounds, organising and transforming them and providing an example of the possibility for exchange between the models and parameters of the image and those of music.
