Vincent Grenier was born in Quebec City. He has lived largely in the United States, mostly New York City. In spite of this, he was a frequent contributor to the Montreal art scene of the 1970s and 80s as well as in the San Francisco area, where he received an MFA at the San Francisco Art Institute in the early 1970s. Grenier's experimental films and videos have earned numerous awards and have shown in North America, Europe and China at major museums and showcases. He has made over two dozen films and, since 1990, videos. He currently lives in Ithaca NY and teaches at nearby Binghamton University. He was the object of the Canadian Artist Spotlight at the Images Festival last year.
