Michel Giroux
Michel Giroux has worked in the field of video and multimedia since the early 1980s. A co-founder of the DEI, he has produced and collaborated on videos, installations, performances, dance, contemporary music, and visuals for multimedia productions with the likes of Geneviève Cadieux, Nathalie Derome, Istvan Kantor, Michel Lemieux and Pauline Vaillancourt. In parallel to this, he has a passion for editing and has collaborated on documentaries with, among others, Paule Baillargeon, Michka Saàl, Céline Baril, Luc Bourdon, Magnus Isacson and Martin Duckworth, and has made a foray into fiction with Robert Morin. He is endlessly fascinated by the writing/composing process involved in editing as well as by its close and profound relationship with the creative process, the author and the work. He sees cinema, video and multimedia as sensorial mediums; the desire to touch through sculpting time, light, sound, form and the senses. He believes there are still a great many possibilities to explore; we haven’t seen it all yet.
