The oldest of a family of three children, Jean-Luc Lagarce was born on the 14th of February 1957 in Héricourt, France. In 1981, he received a Master's degree in Philosophy. Working with the Théâtre de la Roulotte he directed approximately fifteen shows between 1981 and 1992.
