Julie Perron directed her first film in 2000 at the invitation of the National Film Board of Canada: Mai en décembre (Godard en Abitibi) tells the story of Jean-Luc Godard's whirlwind tour to Rouyn-Noranda in December, 1968, for an experiment in free television at the local TV station. Lucie de tous les temps (2003) is a year in the life of 89-year-old Lucie Aubrac, heroine of the French Resistance. This film was nominated for a Gemeaux for best documentary portrait. In 2007, Julie directed and produced, Pierre Gauvin Reluctant Monk, where she observes the life of an intriguing Montréal art photographer.
