Louis Bélanger

Louis Bélanger was born in Beauport, Quebec, in 1964. He made his first short film, Dogmatisme ou le songe d'Adrien, with Denis Chouinard while studying communications the Université du Québec à Montréal; it received a special mention at Montbéliard and an award at the Festival international du jeune cinéma de Montréal. Bélanger and Chouinard made two medium-length films : Le Soleil et ses traces (1990) and Les 14 définitions de la pluie (1992). The latter work won the award for best video at the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois. Also in collaboration with Denis Chouinard, Bélanger contributed to the scripts of the films Clandestins (1996) and L’Ange de goudron (Tar Angel, 1999).
