This video is based on a reading of a text by Alain Fleischer, an internationally know filmmaker, photographer and writer. In astonishing fashion, this text describes a photograph of the Holocaust that Fleischer saw for the first time at the Sidney Jewish Museum in Australia. This attempt to describe a photograph, to "rephotograph" the unrepresentable viewpoint, is a veritable reconstruction of the image through words. The text read by the author attempts to show how this filmed reading opens up a gaping hole within the essence of the image itself.
