Drift is the first collaborative project by video artist Nikki Forrest and musician/composer Jackie Gallant. Audio and video material gathered during explorations of the city (Montreal) formed the basis for collaborative interactions and experiments. The space of the city, like the body, can be understood as socially produced and inscribed with meaning. The inscription of space creates the potential for its re-inscription, re-occupation, re-making and re-use. We make and are made by the places we occupy and move through. Drift explores places and moments where the official planned order of the city is interrupted and usual meaning breaks down.
