Born in Montreal in 1957, Normand Thibault is a filmaker whose work has brought many awards and public acclaim. His film Nous sommes assis sur un volcan, won him a nomination from the Golden Sheaf Awards, and Les ailes coupées, a documentary about workers in the public sector, has brought him much public acclaim. Thibault is also a member of the Association des réalisateurs et réalisatrices de films du Québec (ARRFQ) and the Fédération professionnelle des réalisateurs et réalisatrices de télévision et de cinéma (FPRRTC).
