Two-thirds of the public sector jobs in Quebec are occupied by women. These women perform tasks traditionally reserved for them, including the education of children and medical care for the sick and the elderly. Faced with severe and ever-increasing budget cuts, these women find themselves caught between wanting to provide high-quality service yet not often finding this to be possible.
