The patriarch flees the country on Independence Day. What’s he running from?  Typecasting? The extras?  He breaks down on the flats and fades into a hedge in the suburbs, where we start over. The end is the beginning.

The video combines footage I shot in my parents' living room in Richmond B.C., and 8mm home movies my grandfather shot in the Belgian Congo in the 1950's.

Note: though the video starts silent, the sound kicks in later.
