What starts off as a quiet family evening turns to tragedy when all of the children announce their desire to leave home. The story is told through Gésus, Rosaire’s son. While the family has supper, Gésus speaks off-camera about the family’s inability to communicate or achieve happiness. The oldest daughter announces her wedding, the youngest is leaving for Miami, and the father questions his own capabilities. Gésus, unable to pay a drug debt, is killed at the entrance to his home.
