Fernand Leduc : la peinture et les mots
Add to selectionDownload PDF

Fernand Leduc is a Quebecois painter and signatory of the Refus Global manifesto. His career path is presented in three parts. The first is based on a small and previously unshown painting that Paul Émile Borduas offered the artist in 1941. This work acts as a springboard to discuss the relationship between the young painter Leduc and his teacher. The second part focuses on the beginnings of abstraction and the Plasticien movement. Finally, the third explores the microchromies experimentations and highlights the unshakeable quest for light up until the most recent works. The painter also revisits his past endeavours, analyzes his works and upholds the fundamental imperative to respond to one’s "inner necessity".
