Plaine du Nord
The North Plains basin in Haiti is seen as Saint-Jacques the Major's residence. In voodoo terminology, he is called Ogou Balendjo. The apparent confusion of characters results in the synthesis formed over the centuries between voodoo and Catholic religions, called syncretism. In these North Plains, ceremonies are held to unify various African nations for the country's independence.
