The project Video in the Villages was made possible by the Centro de trabalho indigenista (Work Centre for Indians) beginning in 1986. The initial goal of that project was to introduce video to the Nambiquara Indians from the Mato Grosso of the North and to the Gaviao Indians form the South of the Para, as a tool for documentation of social and cultural projects. This video is the result of that project which, in fact, took months to be completed and during which the Indians directed the shooting of several documentary films. They were free to choose what they wanted to show and what they considered important, such as cultural events which characterize and distinguish them from the rest of the world.
