Over the past 12 years, as part of a project entitled Aujourd’hui (Today), Claire Savoie has produced what she calls dates-vidéos (date-videos) on a daily, or almost daily, basis. This exercise involves testing a method of working rooted in the everyday while making this methodology its main subject; a subject centred on a gaze that observes its surroundings and sometimes turns in on itself, while it is taking form. Over time, this process builds up a memory linked to a personal history from which there is a certain remove, thereby relegating it to a sort of invention of the self.
