Paul, a seemingly sane young man, leaves his grandmother's home to start a new school year at college. Just before his departure Paul’s grandmother gives him a manuscript written by his late father. While reading the story, Paul begins to experience the same diabolic symptoms that once obssessed his father. Day by day his personalilty slowly disintegrates and he becomes completely alienated by his surroundings. After his teacher tries to understand Paul’s psychological disequilibrium, Paul kills him.
