What signifies Solidarity ? Dir. Andreas Taenzler and Karen Margolis, black and white image of a group of two men and two women standing in the street, looking at a piece of paper.

Filmed across Poland in March, 1981 a few months before the implimentation of martial law that December. Solidamosc was only in existence for 7 months, and was already composed of more than 10 million members. This work explores what solidarity signifies for farmers, workers, women, and organisers of Polish unions. The people interviewed all have a common desire to speak out and to situate themselves in the rapidly evolving process to take over the country.
