For some ten days in September 1992, Montreal sculptor Pierre Bellemare paints, folds and raises an immense linen canvas in the attic of an abandoned barn. This video documents the multiple stages of this process and organises its progress, which is affected both by the artist's gestures and by the environment in which he works.

A curious document, completely focused on the work of art that unfolds before the camera’s eye, taking possession of spaces both physical (the barn) and abstract (the frame). This video could not have existed without the work it documents, but the work itself - because of its shifting, ephemeral nature and its grandiosity—could not exist without the camera immortalizing it. As we are drawn further into the work in its state of constant transformation, we instinctively abandon ourselves to the scene.
