La pollution «cétacé»
Add to selectionDownload PDF

In the Tadoussac region of Quebec, where the Saguenay meets the St. Laurent seaway, large groups of whales migrate each year in search of food. Capitalizing on this opportunity, the local tourist industry offers daily whale-watching cruises, in close collaboration with researchers and marine biologists. The success of this venture not only brings profits to the community, but also serves to raise awareness of these endangered creatures. However, it also presents a delicate balancing act where respect for this eco-system, which has been severely decimated by man-made pollution, is countered with our desire to repeatedly intrude on the natural habitat of these whales.
