Taped at the Pigokan reserve near Amos, for a Youth-Perspectives project, this document delineates the confrontations between the Natives and the provincial hunting and fishing authorities. This video illustrates the ambiguity of the methods used for conflict resolution on the reserve, explaining that Federal Indian Act recognizes the authority of the Band Council, which allows litigation to be referred to by the Ministry of Indian Affairs. According to the law, access to fishing and hunting grounds is limited to survival needs, but the majority of Natives don’t recognize this law, and hunting is managed by Whites. The federal and provincial governments’ views are contrasted with those of the Band Council. Images of traditional hunting and fishing support the Natives’ views.
