A massive cargo ship motors out into open water, the port slipping further and further out of view, and the inevitability of the voyage slowly setting in. We gaze out at open water and move through the ship like a ghost, a presence with no function. We drift through zones of fantasy and reality, documenting the highly regimented days of life at sea, confronting with duration, and a sense of solitude that’s difficult to articulate.
"I embarked aboard a container ship between Rouen and Belém in Brazil, then between Gibraltar and the northern ports of Europe aiming to make a movie about slowness and wandering, immersing myself in the intimacy of the ship's life. Line-Crossing is the result of this experience/experiment : an artist's film at the cutting edge of documentary, visual arts and cinema."
