Why the Irish Die
Add to selectionDownload PDF

Recorded in Belfast a few weeks after the death of Bobby Sands and the first hunger strikers, this video exposes the repression suffered by the Catholics of Northern Ireland at the hands of the British Army, the Royal Ulster Constabulary, and Loyalist para-military forces. Living conditions in the neighbourhoods and prisons are also revealed as well as the demands of the republican communities and the short and long-term objectives of the armed struggle. Excerpts of this video contributed to debates in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom and to proceedings at the Belfast High Court, Northern Ireland.
