Heronical Sylvie
In October 2001, in the frame of Expérience trouble presented by the AXENÉO7 Centre of Artists, performer Sylvie Tourangeau spent ten days imagining herself in a body other than her own, in the tranquil stillness experienced by the heron, at the city of Hull’s various bodies of water. Having described the project as "subversive slowness", the director wanted to capture the experience in a profoundly artistic way, in continuum with the work. Taking on the role of observer, subjective, in a state of "active contemplation" if it is indeed that, she paints an impressionistic picture which invites her audience to gain a new understanding of the female heron, closer, very close...
