Pierre Ouvrard, artisan relieur
From his studio in Saint-Paul-de-l'Île-aux-Noix, this film focuses on the final works created by Pierre Ouvrard before his retirement. Ouvrard is considered the greatest bookbinder in Canada. He studied at the École des arts graphiques in the 1940s and was part of the blossoming of modern art in Quebec. It was only in 2004 that he retired, after more than fifty years of intense work. He has distinguished himself in both single editions - he created the Governor-General's Literary Award editions from 1973 to 2004 - and artist's books.
Pierre Ouvrard died in September 2008.
