"The Sirens, Countdown and Failure return to a film and video avant-garde, to a kind of visual archaism that speaks of a refusal to be subjected to the aesthetic rules of dominant images today. His work has a bygone je-ne-sais-quoi quality and it creates a kind of ‘impoverished aesthetic’ (the term used in the video Failure). And, as is often the case in Henricks’ work, there is a very serious caustic humour (and not today’s irony without meaning) which speaks here of the absurdity of life. In Failure, he seems to hiding, he appears not to know what to do with his day, to be in search of creativity. In the end, he shaves his legs..."
