"Late at night when it's really cold outside, I take a look down one of my farther off lineages and I try to add names to the list."

In the dark depths of winter, Ross explores his genealogy, trying to connect to his ancestors' origins on both sides of the Atlantic through digitized online information. Reaching out for his family in the loneliness of cold nights, he starts to learn the traditional tales of the peoples from which he descends. Inspired by a series of folk figures that fill these stories, he comes to terms with the need for oral wintertime storytelling, depicting young people reclaiming the traditions of his ancestors.
