"Late at night when it's really cold outside, I take a look down one of my farther off lineages and I try to add names to the list." In the dark depths of winter, Ross explores his genealogy, trying to connect to his ancestors' origins on both sides of the Atlantic through digitized online information. Reaching out for his family in the loneliness of cold nights, he starts to learn the traditional tales and legends of the peoples from which he descends. Retelling a Scottish and Ojibway myth, the young man comes to terms with his need for wintertime storytelling face to face oral storytelling and begins reclaiming the traditions of his ancestors.
