Albert Dumont is an Algonquin from Pontiac County, Quebec. As he recounts a disturbing childhood incident about racism against his people, it becomes clear that this experience has reinforced his pride in his cultural heritage.
Artist’s statement :
I am interested in culture and identity. I explore the idea of identity through the relationship between polarities such as North-South, East-West, reality-fiction, tragedy-comedy, etc. I also create connections between identity and individual and collective memory.
