This work of fiction denounces war and the brutal instincts of man. An actor disguised as a buffoon gives two soldiers weapons and directs them to fight one another. The story, which comes to an end when one of the soldiers is murdered, is an allegory for all armed conflict. Throughout the story images of soldiers, armies and battles emphasize the theme. Original music underscores the actions of the soldiers, and only the buffoon speaks. Filmed outdoors in a field, the camera is mobile and closes in on all the actions of the soldiers. At the finale when the camera shows the pain experienced by the winner, the buffoon laughs, and shouts, "You’re next." The drama of the war continues.
