By editing together television images this video reflects on the Quebecois’ desperate need for identity. Between the J.R. Cross affair, and the murder of minister Pierre Laporte by the F.L.Q. this document presents demonstrations in the street, extracts from a play whose subject is oppression, and women working in factories. Newspaper cuttings relate political facts linked, among others, to the War Measures Act. Using voice-over, men and women comment on these events, and extracts of the F.L.Q.'s manifestos are used to reveal the antagonistic views about Quebec concerning its desire for autonomy and freedom.
