In 1972, Pierre Vallières published L’urgence de choisir (An Urgent Choice) and accepted a federally-subsidized job in Mont-Laurier, Quebec. This document examines his new political position and his image as an ordinary citizen. Interviews are intercut with newspaper excerpts illustrating the controversy surrounding his return to public life. Is his affiliation with the Parti Québécois a betrayal of the F.L.Q.? He confirms his new political strategies and discusses the themes developed in his book, a critique of the F.L.Q., and the need to join the democratic process and the Parti Québécois.

Commentary by Claire Valade, Film critic from Quebec
Apart from its subpar technical quality and an approach closer to reporting than to documentary filmmaking, the substance of Un Vallières… ben ordinaire! has undeniable historical value, if only because of its "banalization" of the man and ultra-controversial public persona that was felquiste Pierre Vallières.
