Passages, La mémoire des mots et Lettre #17 grew out of an exchange between three video artists in a creative workshop. Silvana Afram is from Brazil, Lidia Fontes Ribeiro a Portuguese Montréaler and Brigitte Nadeau is Québécoise.

Passages considers North-South relations and explores the connection to the official languages spoken in the Americas and to the co-existent cultural and religious differences.

Three words of Brazilian origin, variegated into the memory of an Acores child, later immigrated to Montréal, echo like a nursery rhyme: SERTAO, CACHACA, CANGACEIRO.
