The escapades of a group of young people in the bush and their encounter with a trapper serves as a medium for an ironic contemplation on freedom. An off-camera voice tells the story of 25 students, their arrival on the north shore and their discovery of the forest and its inhabitants. The students meet Aurèle, a trapper, who appears to be the epitome of the free man. However, they soon realize that Aurèle has his own family and social responsibilities. The students finally discover that freedom is a relative notion. The closing shot depicts Aurèle walking in a field. This image ends a bitter-sweet look at our notions of freedom.
