"A word about Le voleur vit en enfer, which is a masterpiece and one of the most enduring examples of Quebec video in the past ten years. Not because it was shown at the Louvre a few years back, or because it can be found in the world’s best catalogues. Made between 1982 and 1984, when video artists were emerging from the initial phase of their work, Le voleur vit en enfer already announced, like a synthesis of the work to be done, a body of work that would sow the era’s metaphors in the furrows of a mordant authenticity".
